SSC Stenographer Syllabus 2023
The SSC Stenographer Grade C & D 2023 Tier I exam will consist of 3 sections namely General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language. The total duration of tier I will be 2 hours.
SSC Stenographer Syllabus: General Intelligence & Reasoning 2023-
The General Intelligence and Reasoning section is the calculative one out of the three sections. It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal types. The test will include questions on the following topics

CBT – The candidates who successfully register for Stenographer exam are called to appear for the first stage of SSC Stenographer Grade C & D. The CBT is an online examination comprising three sections, General Awareness, English Language & Comprehension and General Intelligence & Reasoning. SSC Stenographer CBT exam important pointers
- Candidates have to complete the CBT exam in 2 hours
- One mark is awarded for each right answer and 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer.
Skill Test – All those candidates who clear the computer-based exam have to appear for the skill test in stenography. The skill test is basically conducted to test the speed of candidates.
In this stage, candidates are given a dictation in English or Hindi for 10 minutes. Candidates aiming to qualify in this test, are required to type the dictation at the speed of 100 words per minute for Stenographer Grade C post and 80 words per minute for Grade D post.
After the candidate completes the skill test, the result is declared. The final SSC Stenographer result is based on the marks scored in both the stages of the SSC stenographer selection process.
SSC Stenographer Syllabus: General Awareness -2023
In the General Awareness section, questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society.
Questions will also be formed to test knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its Neighboring countries, especially about Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including the Indian Constitution, Scientific Research, etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
SSC Stenographer Syllabus: Stenography Skill Test -2023
The details of the Stenography Skill test for Stenographer grades’ C’ and ‘D’ 2023 are given here.
- Candidates who obtain the qualifying marks in the Written Examination as may be prescribed by the Commission will only be called for the Skill Test.
- It may also prescribe qualifying marks in each part of the Written Examination.
- The skill test will be of a qualifying nature. The candidates will have to appear for the stenography test.
- The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’.
- The matter will have to be transcribed on the computer only.
- The evaluation of transcription will be done electronically only.
